Roman Polanski to return to the US

Polanski pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl and fled the United States in 1978 on the eve of sentencing.

The Paris-born director was accused of drugging Samantha Gailey - who now uses the surname Geimer - before raping her at film star Jack Nicholson's house in Los Angeles in 1977.

The US then asked Poland to extradite Polanski in January 2015, but the country's Supreme Court ruled in December that he had served his time under the plea deal.

Polanski's lawyer, Harland Braun, has petitioned LA County Superior Court to unseal details of the 40-year-old plea arrangement, which Polanski claims will show he has served enough time in prison, reported. The L.A. district attorney's office and the courts have been unwilling to resolve the case unless Polanski first returns to L.A. and submits to the court's jurisdiction.

Michael Floyd pleads guilty to extreme DUI
He stayed with the Patriots through their Super Bowl win, but he was not active for Super Bowl LI or the AFC Championship Game. Floyd, 27, was found asleep at the wheel of his vehicle and arrested on suspicion of extreme DUI in Scottsdale on December 12.

He was arrested in 2009, while entering Switzerland to receive a prize at the Zurich Film Festival, as a USA request for his extradition had been freshly submitted.

Braun alleges that details include testimony from prosecutor Roger Gunson which would reveal an agreement with Judge Laurence Rittenband in 1977 which stated Polanski only had to serve 48 days in jail for the rape.

Geimer in the video also claims she has forgiven Polanski.

Roman Polanski is reportedly taking another run at wrapping up his statutory-rape case without doing more time behind bars, according to a report out Thursday.

Polanski spent another 334 days in custody in Switzerland, while authorities tried to extradite him back to the U.S.

The 83 year old director, who won awards and acclaim for Chinatown, Rosemary's Baby and The Pianist, has been a fugitive from the United States for almost four decades, living between France and Poland in the intervening time.

He has yet to return to the United States, however, not even in 2003 to pick up an Oscar for best director for his harrowing Holocaust drama, "The Pianist" - one of his eight Academy Awards.
