Patriots Seeking Two First Round Picks For Jimmy Garoppolo

Posted March 09, 2017

Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network says the Patriots might be looking for two first round picks in exchange for Garoppolo.

As Cabot mentions, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Patriots don't have plans to trade Garoppolo, who has been the subject of trade rumors for several months.

War Crime, UN Says: Suspected Chemical Attack Sickens 12 Civilians in Mosul
Iraqi forces launched attacks against ISIS-held neighborhoods in western Mosul from three points on Sunday morning. Four of them are showing "severe signs associated with exposure to a blister agent".

Of course, you can either take that at face value, or you can read it as the Patriots putting it out there that if a team really wants Jimmy, don't come at New England with a BS trade offer. Bill Belichick doesn't like having guys in the locker room who don't buy into what the Patriots are doing, so if Garoppolo started making noises about wanting to leave, Belichick would likely move him. In those two games, he completed 42 of 60 passes (70 percent) for 498 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions.

This year's draft class also may impact the thinking of NFL GMs and coaches in regard to Garoppolo.

Mauricio Pochettino hails Tottenham's belief after holding out for win over Everton
Asked after the match how it had come about, Kane explained - and worrying added we might not have seen the back of it. His opening effort was both superbly struck and, from an Everton perspective, entirely preventable.

Then there's Garoppolo's contract status - going into his fourth and final year of his rookie deal.

The "will they or won't they?" saga regarding the Patriots' potential to trade Jimmy Garoppolo continues to dominate the National Football League news cycle. They did not have a first-round pick past year as part of their Deflategate punishment. A previous Boston Herald report stated that the asking price for Garoppolo was a first and second round selection. But that's a risky route if the trade market doesn't deliver a good deal because teams know that former second-round pick would be released before the Patriots allowed him to play under the franchise tender. I think everyone needs to see more from Garoppolo before giving up that much for him. After all, Garoppolo is set to become a free agent following this upcoming season. And just when it's hit the "first rounder and another pick" hype?
