Ford Motor Co., the second largest USA automaker, on Wednesday announced two new recalls affecting 440,000 vehicles and expects to spend about $295 million to fix the issues.

The recall includes about 230,000 2014 Ford Escape, 2014-15 Ford Fiesta ST, 2013-14 Ford Fusion and 2013-15 Ford Transit Connect vehicles equipped with 1.6-liter GTDI engines. Ford said a lack of coolant circulation can cause the engines to overheat, cracking the cylinder head. So far, Ford has 29 reports of fires in these vehicles.

The faulty door latch recall covers the 2014 Fiesta, the 2013 and 2014 Fusion and the Lincoln MKZ.

Under the recall, a spring in the side door latch could break, which could cause the door to open while the vehicle is in motion.
