Microsoft has announced it will stick with twice-a-year feature update schedule for Windows 10, which will be released in March and September every year. This update sees them following in the footsteps of Facebook-owned hybrid messenger WhatsApp, which also started offering features very similar to Snapchat. The software giant says that its customers "want more predictability and simplicity" from the update servicing model so it will align updates to Windows 10 with those for Office 365 ProPlus and System Centre Configuration Manager. The update is the third major release for Windows 10, the company said in a statement.
The company said it would hew to a "predictable" twice-per-year schedule for both platforms, though there's still a little wiggle room: Microsoft didn't specify exact dates within those months. The Office 365 ProPlus typically gets new updates three times a year. Users of such systems were met with an error message when attempting to fetch security patches through Windows Update.
That update, known by its code name of Redstone 3 right now, has already begun its development cycle and is now expected to be released in September 2017.

After months of waiting, Microsoft finally released it Creators Update earlier this month. Now nearly two years after the OS was released to the public, Microsoft has some concrete answers. But Microsoft would rather have you upgrading that new PC to the latest version of Windows 10. The update only applies to Office 365 commercial services and does not effect Office perpetual clients.
Due to be rolled out to most Windows 10 users in Fall of this year, Microsoft claims the feature has lowered CPU power consumption by "up to 11%", during what it calls "the most strenuous use cases". While many companies are working on improving the battery life of their products, it looks like Microsoft is also taking another angle to solving this biggest pain point.
