Cabinet members head to Capitol Hill to defend Trump budget

Nobel Memorial Prize laureates and the New York Times columnist Paul Krugman have noted that Trump's budget proposal and tax plan both call for the elimination of the estate tax, which is levied on the estates of people with more than $5.45 million in assets (for the 2016 tax year). It foresees an overhaul of the tax code, a boon to the wealthiest Americans.

Now that we have the president's budget in hand, we have a more definitive answer: Trumponomics - like Ryanonomics - is based on the principle that living in poverty doesn't suck quite enough. "Why do we change it?" Bernie Sanders claimed that low-income seniors "will not be able to get the one nutritious meal a day [they] now receive through the Meals on Wheels". He calls it "immoral".

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump meet Pope Francis, Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at the Vatican. But then the $2 trillion is also counted as economic growth for the objective of reducing the deficit.

"We are not kicking anybody off of any program who really needs it", Budget Director Mick Mulvaney said Tuesday.

But of course, there's been a lot of talk about how Trump's budget will have difficulty even making it through Congress.

The assault allegation didn't seem to faze voters. "And we've really got to say, 'Come on, behave, behave"'. President Donald Trump is overseas on a five-nation tour, but he's tuned in to politics back home.

"To most people, plain language, slashing Medicaid would mean we spend less next year than we did this year".

To explain why baseline budgeting needs to be retired, Mulvaney used the example of a program that cost $100 past year.

He predicted Trump's budget could face the same fate in the House as President Barack Obama's budgets: zero votes.

"While providing a path toward a balanced budget and increasing support for our military is commendable, neither can be done overnight, nor by eliminating programs that directly benefit the commonwealth", U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson, R-Pa., said.

The Lib Dem peer claimed the host was "pinning too much faith on the powers of persuasion" of Mr Farron's party. Scottish Labour election coordinator James Kelly said the Lib Dems had "nothing new to offer".

What effect would Trump's budget have on Medicaid?

"I don't pay very much attention to presidential budgets, no matter what party the president is from".

While it includes cuts across a variety of discretionary programs, it also reforms one of the largest healthcare entitlements: Medicaid. The Trump administration says this would help move people off the rolls. And so, with the "compassionate" goal of making the poor a little less comfortable and a little more motivated, this budget savages almost every anti-poverty program you can imagine.

The good news for critics and concerned advocates in Idaho and elsewhere: The president's budget, which proposes $1 trillion in cuts to social programs over the coming decade, got a frigid reception from Congress and will not be enacted as drafted. Established almost a decade ago, the vault was recently expanded adding fifty thousand seeds sample donated across the globe. The ice was broken up and removed by the vault employees, but the breach has raised concerns over the storage's security.
