White House torn over Mueller's role as pressure grows

Ruddy said the ethics behind Mueller's presence are concerning considering how he was appointed to be special counsel.

"If there were not good cause, it wouldn't matter to me what anybody says".

On the last hour of Morning Joe, Tuesday, co-host Joe Scarborough threw cold water on Ruddy's claims saying that three high level sources all told him that Mueller was safe and that the president never suggested dumping the special counsel. Justice Department rules prohibit the dismissal of a special counsel without cause.

USA attorney general Jeff Sessions has said that any suggestion of collusion between him and Russian Federation is "an appalling and detestable lie", as he appeared before the Senate Intelligence Committee in Washington.

Rosenstein also said that having made political contributions "is not a disqualification" from working for the special counsel leading the Russian Federation investigation.

After disarming the officers, one of the inmates shot and killed them, said Stills, who said about 30 inmates saw what happened. Authorities say two escaped inmates from Georgia have been captured after a foot chase in Rutherford County Thursday evening.

A close associate of Trump told PBS NewsHour on June 13 that Trump was considering firing Mueller one month after he fired former FBI Director James Comey, who previously headed the Russian Federation investigation.

President Donald Trump speaks on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, Monday, June 12, 2017, during a ceremony honoring the 2016 NCAA Football National Champions Clemson University Tigers. "I do believe it would be catastrophic, and I do believe it would destroy any shred of trust in the president's judgment that remains over here", Senator Dianne Feinstein said.

Rosenstein is scheduled to testify today before both Senate and House subcommittees regarding the Justice Department's budget, and he is likely to be questioned about Mueller's status.

According to Ruddy, there was a meeting between Trump and Mueller just days before he was appointed as the independent counsel to the investigation. Ruddy is long-time friend of the President.

Ryan echoed that sentiment, calling the reports about the president possibly moving to fire Mueller "a rumor".

"He's got all these weird relationships where he says, "I haven't talked to so-and-so in six months" and then you find out he talked to so-and-so that day", Scarborough said about Trump. However, senior White House officials stressed that Ruddy did not meet with the president when he recently visited the White House.

Mueller was the Federal Bureau of Investigation director from 2001 to 2013.

Mr Sessions was revealed to have met the Russian ambassador twice previous year, meetings that he did not indicate during the Senate confirmation hearing approving his appointment.

It was not clear whether Mr Ruddy, who speaks to the president often, was basing his remarks on a specific conversation with him or entirely on Mr Sekulow's comments.
