President Donald Trump's closest allies are attacking the integrity of those involved in the widening probe of Russian interference in the USA election, accusing special counsel Robert Mueller of driving a biased investigation.
He has also started to direct some of his anger at Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who oversees special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation probe, according to the AP and the New York Times.
So, now, Trump tweets it is a witch hunt that Rosenstein is investigating him for firing Comey.
"I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director (James Comey) by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director!" And attacked his own deputy attorney general, Rod Rosenstein (who now might resign or recuse himself).
Rosenstein was the one to make the decision because Attorney General Jeff Sessions had already recused himself from the Russian Federation investigation.

Doubt, however, has been cast on that explanation because of cryptic testimony from former FBI Director James Comey last week. Collins' question wasn't the only time the Mueller investigation came up during Rosenstein's hearing on Capitol Hill.
