South Korea to deploy new radar to detect North Korea drones

The U.S. has been trying to get China and Russian Federation to back a new UN Security Council resolution imposing stiffer sanctions on North Korea following its latest missile test.

It, among other things, would impose U.S. sanctions on all those participating in North Korean labour trafficking abuses.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said Chinese exports of iron to North Korea for civilian purposes do not relate to the sanctions targeting Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs, and China will continue implementing the resolutions "in an all-out manner".

On July 4, Pyongyang announced the successful launch of its first intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), the Hwasong-14, which traveled 933 kilometers (580 miles) before falling into the Sea of Japan.

The so-called secondary sanctions now being considered are a way for the United States to apply targeted economic pressure on companies in countries with ties to North Korea by denying them access to the U.S. market and financial system. Two close neighbors of North Korea, Japan and South Korea, are also USA treaty allies, meaning that if North Korea used military force against them, the US would be obligated to defend them.

The report linked Iran and North Korea, claiming that both states were moving toward producing the Fadj-5 Aero CRBM and KN-SS-X-9, respectively.

The timing and scope of the USA action will depend heavily on how China responds to pressure for tougher steps against North Korea when United States and Chinese officials meet for a high-level economic dialog in Washington on Wednesday, the administration sources told Reuters.

The radar capable of tracking unmanned aerial vehicles from North Korea would be used for local air defense, and will enter mass production for deployment in 2018, South Korean news service Newsis reported.

Libya's output jumped by 127,000 bpd to 852,000 bpd, while Nigerian crude production rose by 96,700 bpd to 1.733 million bpd. OPEC members Libya and Nigeria were exempted from the cuts because of years of unrest that have undermined their oil output.

"China customs have all along fully, accurately, conscientiously and strictly enforced relevant Security Council resolutions", Huang declares.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said China's cooperation on North Korea was "uneven" when he spoke to lawmakers in mid-June, saying USA officials were concerned about actions by both the government and other entities in China. Total trade increased 10.5 percent to $2.55 billion during the period.

China has seriously carried out United Nations sanctions on North Korea, said Huang. "They need grain, they need fuel and they need consumer goods, and that's what China provides", he said.
