US President Donald Trump allegedly personally dictated a statement that was later issued by his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., in which the president's son claims he had met with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya to discuss adoption, US media reported.

Sarah Sanders, White House Press Secretary, told a news conference on Tuesday: "He certainly didn't dictate (the statement), but. he weighed in, offered suggestion like any father would do".

According to the Post's reporting, Trump Jr.'s misleading response, was the work of the president himself.

The statement said that Trump Jr. and other top members of the Trump campaign primarily discussed a Russian adoption program.

The ever changing story of Donald Trump Jr.'s meeting with a Russian attorney during the presidential campaign has taken another twist. Trump himself brought up the Russian Federation investigation as a reason for firing Comey, and the president has recently criticized Attorney General Jeff Sessions-who was a campaign surrogate-for recusing himself from matters related to Russian Federation.

"Like when you guys put somebody in the vehicle and you're protecting their head, you know, the way you put their hand over, like, [at that point Mr Trump gestures at his head], don't hit their head and they've just killed somebody, don't hit their head, I said, 'You can take the hand away, okay?'"

It still remains quite unlikely that Trump will get impeached. They've pointed to Mueller's acquaintance with Comey at the FBI and donations that lawyers working on the special counsel's probe have made to Democrats to claim that the office can not carry out a credible investigation.

This includes the Senate Intelligence Committee who, under their purview, have taken part in both open and closed testimonial from James Comey, the former boss of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
