Arsenal vs Cologne — UEFA Europa League

Posted September 16, 2017

Arsenal's Group H match was delayed by an hour as about 20,000 Cologne supporters fans, many without tickets, descended on Emirates Stadium before kickoff as their team returned to European competition for the first time in 25 years.

Arsenal fans were accused of flogging their matchday tickets to the Cologne supporters.

Wenger said his team waited patiently in the dressing room during the delay, while he was involved in discussions on when to play the game if it had to be called off.

"The club bring me a lot and I think I give it back". Do we play tomorrow, what time do we want to play, do we play next week? "A few players have had some response to playing two global games like Ozil and Ramsey, so they are rested completely". But in the end at some stage I thought they would not play the game, because I can't see the police taking any risk.

Chelsea is relishing the prospect of facing Arsenal as they look to build momentum in the Premier League after a dominant win in Europe, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois said on Wednesday.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hailed Cologne as a "great club" as his Gunners prepare to do battle with the Billy Goats in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night (21:05CEST/19:05GMT).

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp discusses his side's defensive frailties
They did it in the first half while winning and while we were losing in the second half, I did the same thing. Clarets were bad on the road last season and collected a total of four points from their away games.

"Yes, they are known for their very passionate support". "We've faced sides in the Bundesliga who are on a similar level and we've got positive results against them, so I can sleep easily".

Here's how the Arsenal fans reacted to the teamnews... I don't know if they went through Arsenal membership, on the internet, but they did well.

The lead was extended in the 81st minute when Hector Bellerin swept home from six-yards out after Theo Walcott's initial strike was saved.

It was not until after the break - and a switch to a 4-2-3-1 formation from three at the back - that the Gunners were able to display the dominance expected of them in their first season outside of the Champions League in 19 years.

"Kolasinac makes quick decisions, he's strong in the tackle and quick going forward. He played very deep in the first half, when he had more support in the second half he became more unsafe".

Meanwhile, Jack Wilshere is in contention to start his first game of the season, with Wenger pleased with his progress in the training sessions so far.

'Kohli better than Smith in limited overs'
Australia , on the other hand, after settling their pay dispute landed in Bangladesh for the two-match Test series. "95 per cent of the pitches around the world are similar in ODIs", Clarke told TOI on Tuesday (September 12).

"Was it the fact that they scored the goal and we didn't know how to deal with it?"

"Sanchez came alive in the second half", said Wenger. "He can always create something special".

Arsenal attempted to respond in the rest of the first-half but were unable to do so and will now be hoping that there first Europa League game will not end in tatters.

"On the injury front we have no big problems", the Frenchman said.

"I think Sanchez is still running after his best form".

The win will provide an important lift ahead of a hard trip to Chelsea on Sunday.
