Zakharova said Russian Federation welcomed the measures taken by the "Myanmar Government to implement the recommendations of the Advisory Commission on Rakhine State headed by former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan". From Bangladesh, some Rohingyas have crossed into India.

Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to view Rohingyas as Muslims, but consider them as refugees and allow them to stay in India like any other refugee. His remarks came two days after UN Human Rights Chief Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein condemned India's decision to deport Rohingyas to Myanmar where they have faced persecution.

Asad said the constitution had provided the right to live and equality to even refugees, and hence government has to reconsider its stand, adding that he hoped that the Supreme Court would deliver a judgment in favour of the Rohingyas. Questioning the government's policy, he said that when the government can provide shelter to Buddhist refugees of Tibet then why it wants to repatriate Muslim refugees from Myanmar.

The decision to deport Rohingyas comes as Myanmar's military crackdown in Rakhine has forced hundreds of thousands of Rohingyas to seek shelter in Bangladesh, in a process the United Nations has described as ethnic cleansing.

Earlier it was reported that the filed affidavit on the expulsion of Rohingyas stated that the decision to deport the Rohingyas is taken in "larger public interest and in the interest of national security".

"In that connection we took note of the collective statement by the leading organizations representing Myanmar's multi-ethnic Muslim community who condemned armed actions by radical elements in that region (Rakhine)", Zakharova said."It is essential to remember that the wish to intervene in the internal affairs of a sovereign state may merely bring about further inter-religious discord", she said.

The Supreme Court had asked the government to file the affidavit on a plea against the deportation of illegal Rohingya Muslim immigrants to Myanmar. Only about 40,000 Rohingyas are acknowledged as citizens in their country.
