Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi met on Monday night in NY ahead of the UN General Assembly.

"The US has its own perspective that Egypt is paying its full respects, however the US's designation of such group as terrorists may take more time - not only for the US, but also for the entire world", Al-Sisi explained.

Egyptian foreign minister Sameh Shoukry and the Egyptian intelligence head Khaled Fawzy, who has been heavily involved in the recent negotiations over a Palestinian unity government, also participated in yesterday's meeting, according to Haaretz.

Mr Netanyahu also met with Donald Trump on the sidelines of the General Assembly on Monday as the first leader to have a one-one-one with the USA president.

There were reports Mr Netanyahu and his team were dismayed that Mr Trump emphasised the issue during the meeting.

"Historically, people say it can't happen".

Civilian Killed, 5 Injured as Pakistan Violates Ceasefire in J&K's Arnia
The Indian army says a border guard has been killed in cross-border fire from Pakistan in the disputed Kashmir region. This was the third ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops in the Arnia sector in the last two days.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday he believed "we really have a chance" to make peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

"The meeting (between Netanyahu and Sisi) represents a public step to further coordinate with Israel on a host of issues, from containing the Islamic State in the Sinai [and] reining in Hamas in the Gaza Strip, to trying to stem the tide of Iranian influence in the region", professor Joshua Teitelbaum, a senior research fellow at the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies, told JNS.org.

Netanyahu and al-Sisi, who speak on the phone periodically, assembled at the Palace Hotel, where the latter is staying during his visit to NY to take part - like Netanyahu - in the UN General Assembly meeting. The attendees reportedly included influential religious ministers, officials and former members of the military, as well as leaders of research centres and United States think tanks.
