Washington, Oct 18 A gunman stormed a suburban Maryland business park today and shot five people, three of them fatally, before escaping, police officers said.

The shooting occurred at approximately 8.58 a.m. (1258GMT) at Advanced Granite Solutions in Edgewood, about 30 miles northeast of Baltimore.

The injured two were in a critical condition after being rushed to hospital in Baltimore.

All five victims were shot with a handgun and were employees of the business, Gahler said.

Prince, who police say drove away from that site, also is a suspect in a shooting that happened later Wednesday morning in Wilmington, Delaware, Gahler said, citing Wilmington police. "Certainly, we consider him armed and unsafe", he said.

The sheriff said a motive isn't known, but, "This does appear to be a target attack limited to that business".

Gahler said he believed Prince acted alone in the Maryland shooting. "I felt very threatened because he is a big guy and very aggressive on me", the employee wrote. CBS Baltimore reports he was charged in DE with 15 burglaries in the early 2000s, for which he served two years in prison.

Kevin Doyle of Thornhill Properties said he was getting tools from his truck when he heard screaming and saw three men running from the office park.

A Harford County District Court judge denied the order, saying the case didn't meet the required burden of proof.

The Harford County Public Schools website says that several schools have been placed "on modified lockdown" due to "an abundance of caution".

"We were very nervous", Hunt said. The sheriff's office said they believed Prince was associated with Advanced Granite Solutions though they could not confirm his exact relationship with the business.
