No time for pleasantries: Jerry Jones, Arthur Blank avoid each other

After soundly routing the Cowboys on Sunday, Blank's claims insinuate that Jerry Jones isn't making much headway off the field in his reported efforts to hinder negotiations with Goodell either.

Jones has been working against the owners' compensation committee's work to apply the finishing touches to a five-year contract extension with Goodell running through 2024.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reportedly asked for a $49.5 million contract extension but Marc Ganis, president of Sportscorp and consultant to the league's 32 team owners, told FOX Business's "Varney & Co." the lavish demands, which were reported by ESPN, are untrue.

Florio noted one of the article's sections allows the commissioner to enforce the forfeiture of a team if an owner "has been or is guilty of conduct detrimental to the welfare of the league or professional football".

With the week's tension in mind, media members were watching Jones and Blank closely before the game.

"The Committee is continuing its work towards finalizing a contract extension with the Commissioner, consistent with the mandate provided in the unanimous May 2017 Resolution", Blank wrote.

Blank, according to a report Sunday by Sports Illustrated writer Peter King, was "shocked" and "disappointed" by Jones' threat to sue the league, telling the Cowboys owner, "We may have differences, but this is not the way we resolve them".

Along with player conduct policy, Goodell has also been criticized for his inability to tackle the controversy surrounding the national anthem, which has become one of the most problematic NFL issues this season.

"Certainly, we have things we need to discuss that weren't on the table last spring", Jones said.

The company is also using its own devices for testing purposes, but doesn't plan to ship any of its current gear to consumers. Though we may not see the headset for another couple of years, Apple is said to be pouring resources into its development.

The league has said that no further vote of the owners is needed for the extension to take effect once Goodell and the compensation committee agree to it. Jones has contended that, under the NFL's constitution, owners must take another vote to ratify the deal.
