According to Murray Smith, the public relations officer for the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, the police believed that there was the "blossoming of a potential relationship", between Frisina and Rodriguez, ABC News reported.

It wasn't immediately clear whether she was found with Rodriguez. It's believed she left voluntarily with him, authorities said earlier.

Caitlyn Frisina, 17, was located in upstate NY with Rian Rodriguez, 27, a family friend and Frisina's father's assistant soccer coach at the high school, authorities said.

Caitlyn was reunited with her parents Saturday in Syracuse.
