Bon Jovi, The Cars, Dire Straits, Moody Blues and Nina Simone will be this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, the museum announced Wednesday morning. In addition, the late Sister Rosetta Tharpe will be honored with an Early Influence award.
I reported a year ago when Bon Jovi was snubbed by the HOF that Wenner and Bruce Springsteen's manager, Jon Landau, controlled the hall. 2018 Rock Hall nominees who were not chosen included Depeche Mode, the Eurythmics, Judas Priest and Radiohead.
"Wenner used to run the Hall of Fame, but he's lost his clout", one insider said.

Romarinho had fired the minnows into an unexpected lead despite Los Blancos enjoying all of the play in the first half. In the first semi-final played on Tuesday, Gremio edged Mexico's Pachuca 1-0 following a 95th minute goal by Everton.
The third time was a charm for The Cars, who had also been nominees in the past two years.
The induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio, while organisers will host a week of events leading up to the celebration including the unveiling of the 2018 Inductee exhibit and Hall Of Fame floor.
Bon Jovi serve as the heaviest of the new Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Class, starting their career with their self-titled 1984 effort, and finding their breakthrough with 1986's Slippery When Wet. The band's classic lineup, fronted by Justin Hayward and John Lodge, debuted in 1967 with the orchestral-rock album "Days of Future Passed". To be eligible, artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the induction year.

It doesn't affect the African qualifiers for next year's finals, as Nigeria had already booked their place for Russian Federation before the Algeria match.
Ballots were voted on by over 1,000 artists; fans also had a say in a special additional ballot.
That means Bon Jovi became eligible in 2008.
