Kenya Airways starts process of direct flights to NY

Kenya Airways (KQ) will commence direct daily flights from Nairobi to NY in October 2018.

"This ultra-long haul flight requires ultra-resources and we are providing the best for our guests", Mikosz said.

Kenya Airways will operate a Boeing 787-8 to New York JFK with a total capacity of 234 passengers and 16 crew members.

The flight duration will be 15 hours east bound and 14 hours west bound and the airline hopes to capitalise on multi-national traffic.

The national carrier said it expected the flights between Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and New York's JFK Airport to play a critical role in returning it profit making territory.

The U.S.is now Kenya's top tourism source market, commanding a market share of 12.2 percent of total arrivals to Kenya as of October 2017.

The airline already serves Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and cities in Asia. Mikosz revealed the carrier will continue to modernise its fleet though its 32 aircraft are some of the youngest in Africa.
