Tim Cook Says iPhone Users Can Turn Off Throttling -- Soon

Posted January 20, 2018

"We will tell someone we're reducing your performance by some amount in order to not have an unexpected restart", Cook said. Though its probe is wider as it's also investigating whether Apple rival Samsung has used software updates to slow its phones to drive consumer upgrades - as is alleged.

After Apple was forced to apologize for intentionally slowing down the performance of older iPhones, the company's CEO is now saying customers will soon have the choice to stop battery throttling for good. Cook said "maybe we should have been clearer", and stated that Apple's motivation behind these types of decision is to always have the user in mind.

The rest of the interview focused on Apple's repatriation of foreign revenue, which Cook claims will bring $US38 ($48) billion back to the U.S. and is part of the company's plans to spend $US350 ($439) billion in the United States over the next five years.

Fournette finished the regular season with 268 carries for 1,040 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns. Fournette and the Jaguars face the Patriots on Sunday in the AFC championship in Foxborough, Mass.

Alongside the option to turn off the slowdown, Apple will also introduce much more detailed monitoring of battery health for users.

Cook was responding to questions about the recent finding that Apple slows down the performance of iPhones whose batteries have degraded to that level.

Cook said some of those features will debut in a developer release next month. Currently, iOS will warn users if their battery is substantially decayed, but will not notify them of partial aging - even if that aging is severe enough to warrant the slowdown. For those with long message threads spanning months/years, this would be kind of a pity to delete them all, but like we said this is the only fix at the moment.

Turkey 'not satisfied' with USA assurance over Syria force
Erdogan has said the state of emergency will remain as long as security threats persist. "We have seen many broken American promises".

With the update, Cook said, "We're going to give people the visibility of the health of their battery so it's very, very transparent - this hasn't been done before".

Those with the update will have an option to chose whether they want their iPhone's performance to be throttled when its battery degrades to a certain point.

Just before the start of 2018, Apple announced it would of out-of-warranty iPhone battery replacements to $29 in an effort to make amends with customers and offer new, cheaper batteries to older iPhones.
