McCabe Stepped Down Amid Pressure From Wray

FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe has stepped down from his position at the law enforcement agency effective Monday, a senior government official told BuzzFeed News. While McCabe was apparently looking at leaving this spring, his departure comes weeks ahead of schedule and during a time when he's clearly been in the crosshairs of the president.

News reported he had enough accumulated leave to step down earlier, while CBS News reported he was forced out.

The White House was not involved in McCabe's decision, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters Monday afternoon. McCabe told Trump he would have approved Comey's flight, but said he was not asked beforehand.

He warned May and her cabinet colleagues against allowing Brexit to become "only a damage limitation exercise". First it's looking to agree on a transition period after Brexit in March 2019 that make the exit less abrupt.

Republicans have criticized McCabe in connection with the FBI's investigation into Clinton's use of a private email server while she served as USA secretary of state. No charges were brought against Clinton.

McCabe's wife had received campaign donations from then-Democratic Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe in a 2015 state Senate bid, drawing multiple Twitter attacks from the Republican president.

The FBI's inspector general launched a probe a year ago into whether McCabe had any conflicts of interest in the Clinton investigation.

McCabe and fired Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey had key roles in the FBI's probe of Clinton in the 2016 election, which ultimately cleared the Democrat of criminal wrongdoing in her misuse of a personal email server while she was secretary of state.

Sanders said Monday that the president stands by previous comments regarding McCabe and that the White House has "some concerns" over his work at the bureau.

Trump asked in a December tweet that how McCabe could lead the Clinton probe when his wife got donations from "Clinton Puppets".

However, he predicts that the Trump administration is a "temporary phenomenon that will disappear in 2020, or even sooner". Soros also denounced President Donald Trump , who he accused of trying to establish a "mafia state".

After McCabe volunteered that assessment, Priebus says he asked McCabe whether he would be able to make a similar statement to the public. And, a month after Trump fired Comey, he also ordered the firing of special counsel Robert Mueller - although the White House counsel Don McGahn refused to follow through on that directive.
