Mr. Glushkov's lawyer, Andrei Borovkov, said he heard the news of his death from the businessman's relatives but didn't know the timing or the circumstances. At the time, an inquiry found he had hanged himself - but Glushkov publicly disputed the idea that his friend and former business ally would have killed himself.

The incident happened on late Monday evening when Berezovsky's body was discovered by family and friends at a home in New Malden in southwest London.

The Met also released a statement calling Glushkov's death unexplained and said that the counter-terrorism unit is leading the investigation.

Metropolitan Police said formal identification has not taken place yet pending a post-mortem identification.

The Metropolitan Police said there was no evidence yet to suggest a link with the poisoning of the double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter, Yulia, in Salisbury.

The Russian Foreign Ministry, meanwhile, says it has handed the British ambassador a note of protest regarding the accusations, calling them "baseless", "provocative" and "another unscrupulous attempt of the British authorities to discredit Russia".

South Africa v Australia: Kagiso Rabada banned for rest of series
Did you see that? "As I've said, we have no issues with the way the Australian team plays their brand of cricket". That took his total of points after three previous offences to eight and triggered an automatic two-Test ban.

Russian Federation denies any involvement in the March 4 attack on Skripal, 66, and his daughter Yulia, 33, who are both critically ill in hospital, and has accused Britain of unjustified action.

Recall, according to the latest data, the British police are considering three versions of the death of Nikolai Glushkov - murder, suicide and accident.

Russian officials have rejected the idea that their government is responsible for the attack on Skripal.

Wilson also refuted a claim by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that Britain would be breaching the treaty that outlaws chemical weapons if it refuses to share with Moscow samples of the nerve agent. He had been convicted of stealing $123m from Russian state airline Aeroflot in 2017. The manner of death was classified as "undetermined".

The 67-year-old tycoon had been one of Russia's most powerful figures in the years after the collapse of the Soviet Union. That is because the notion of what Russian Federation might be capable of doing has changed. That dispute was eventually settled in Abramovich's favor.

A subsequent inquest failed to determine whether he had killed himself or died from foul play.

Ivan Savvidis Greek club owner challenges referee with a gun
Spare a thought, though, for Greek football club PAOK chairman Ivan Savvidis , who is seemingly unconcerned by any of that. As a result Sunday's decisive Super League contest against leaders AEK Athens will take place in front of spectators.

"You have the deaths of Boris and Badri over a short period of time".

He added: "Too many deaths [of Russian emigres] have been happening".

Glushkov told The Guardian in 2013 that he was sceptical that Berezovsky would take his own life. He added that the list of prominent Russians who opposed Putin was continuing to shrink: "I don't see anyone left on it apart from me".

Glushkov told the inquiry that he bumped into Litvinenko in Berezovsky's office. But by then, Berezovsky had moved to London.

Berezovsky fled to Britain in the early 2000s and sought political asylum for what he claimed were politically motivated fraud charges.
